About Bill Schult
A Life Shaped by Wind, Water and Wood
My Story
Building and Making Custom Pieces Since 1995

THE EARLY YEARS
Growing up near Naples, Florida, Bill Schult developed an early connection to the ocean. Surfing took him to the eastern coast of Florida and beyond, with adventures in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Barbados.
At age 21, he built his first sailboat—a project that combined his love of the water with a growing talent for working with his hands. His passion for sailing eventually led to a remarkable achievement: a solo voyage around the world.
BOATBUILDER AND CRAFTSMAN
Back in Florida, Bill established Timbercraft, creating custom furniture, plantation shutters, architectural millwork and doors. His interest in boatbuilding also led him to design and manufacture the Everglades Runner, an innovative shallow-water flats boat recognized at the Miami Boat Show.
In Key West, his work took on a distinctly nautical character. He designed and built custom interiors, displays and furnishings for local shops and restaurants, often incorporating handcrafted mahogany boats and other maritime elements.
These projects strengthened the skills that continue to define his work: imaginative design, precise joinery and a deep understanding of how exceptional materials can be transformed.
A NEW CHAPTER IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
The natural beauty and remarkable woods of the Pacific Northwest brought new inspiration. In Quilcene, Washington, Bill created the timber-frame entrance to Seven Monkeys Gallery and later built an outdoor timber-frame kitchen overlooking Hood Canal.
Today, his focus is collectible studio furniture. He continues to source exotic island woods, pairing them with locally harvested hardwoods and distinctive burls. The resulting contrasts and complementary colors, grains and textures bring depth and character to pieces that balance sculptural presence with practical purpose.
Each work reflects a lifetime of exploration, ingenuity and museum-quality craftsmanship—furniture intended to be appreciated, lived with and passed down through generations.
